Preserving The Original Recipes While Introducing New Ideas
Chef George has worked in the restaurant business since the age of 14. He started working in the kitchen under his mother's guidance, who was the chef at the time. After years of cooking, his father Bill, taught him the front of the house where he became a waiter and worked his way up to Maitre'd. He left the business for a short period after discovering that his true passion was in the kitchen and enrolled himself at Le Cordon Bleu in Orlando, Florida. In 2014, having earned his Associate's Degree in Applied Science of Culinary Arts, he returned to take the reign as Executive Chef at Carmello's in order to preserve the family business.
Chef George holds true and respects his mother's recipes, presentation, and ingredients that made Carmello's a landmark in Charlottesville. He rotates a menu of dinner specials of new presentations, techniques and flavors in addition to the regular menu. The Chef's offerings are always evolving, so there is always a new experience waiting for you at Carmello's.
